Extra Life 24-hour gaming marathon

The Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus will host our third annual 24-hour gaming marathon to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital on November 4 at Four String Brewing’s production brewery. We’ve raised over $12,000 to date for the kids and hope to bring that total to over $20,000 with this year’s event! RSVP on Facebook

Our event is part of Extra Life, a global 24-hour gaming marathon fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million to help children’s hospitals.

The November 4 Beers and Board Games event will feature over a hundred tabletop board games and even a few console games like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. 21+ for this event, please. Gamers are welcome to stay for the entire event, or just drop in to play for a few hours. We will be charging a $10 cover for this event, 100% of which will be donated to Extra Life. Included with admission is one raffle ticket which you can allocate toward one of the prize packages in our pick-a-prize raffle featuring items from Tabletop Game Cafe, 101 Beer Kitchen, Columbus Beerfest, Barley’s Brewing, Jeni’s Ice Creams, Trapped Escape Room and many MANY more! Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each, or 6 for $20. (The raffle drawing will take place at midnight, however you will not need to be present to win.)

In addition, Four String will be donating $1 for every beer sold, and our food truck partners will all be donating 10% of food sales!

*If you’re wondering why this “24 hour gaming event” looks like it’s only 23 hours (11am-10am) it’s because we set our clocks back smack in the middle of this event!



Q: I am unable to attend the event but I still want to help out. How can I?

Q: Can I bring my son/daughter/nephew/baby/wooden puppet child?
A: Sorry, this fundraiser is FOR the kids, but not FOR kids. We are keeping this event 21+

Q: Do I have to stay for all 24-hours? That sounds… insane.
A: It is. And no. Gamers are welcome to stay for the entire event, or just drop in to play for a few hours. You can even come Saturday and then come back Sunday morning for donuts and gaming.

Q: Do I need cash?
A: Please. Pretty please?! You can use credit cards for beer from Four String and food from the food trucks, but if you can, PLEASE bring cash for admission and raffle tickets. Admission is $10 and raffle tickets will be 1 for $5 or 6 for $20. If you forget to bring cash, we will collect your card donation via the Extra Life website at the event.

Q: What kinds of games will you have?
A: A lot. Here are some: Secret Hitler, Flatline, Exploding Kittens, Fury of Dracula, Arkham Horror, Cosmic Encounter, Codenames, Netrunner, Archipelago, Orleans, Wasabi, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Tsuro, Gloom, Sushi Go Party, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Scategories, Rummikub, Viticulture, Castles of Burgundy, Machi Koro, etc etc etc. Don’t know any of those games? That’s cool, just come ready to learn and our friendly folks will teach ya!

Q: Can I bring my own game(s)?
A: Of course! Just be sure to write your name inside the lid or put a post-it note on the game so it ends up in the right place at the end of the event.
