Our second annual 24-hour gaming marathon to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital is now over. Check back for the date for our 2017 event later this year!
The Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus is proud to host our second annual 24-hour gaming marathon to benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital, this year on November 5 at Four String Brewing’s production brewery. We raised over $5,000 last year with about 120 attendees and are hoping to make an even bigger impact this year!
Our event is part of Extra Life, a global 24-hour gaming marathon fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million to help children’s hospitals.

*If you’re wondering why this “24 hour gaming event” looks like it’s only 23 hours (11am-10am) it’s because we set our clocks back smack in the middle of this event!

Q: I am unable to attend the event but I still want to help out. How can I?
A: Thank you! You can donate to our team here.
Q: Can I bring my son/daughter/nephew/baby/wooden puppet child?
A: Sorry, this fundraiser is FOR the kids, but not FOR kids. We are keeping this event 21+
Q: Do I have to stay for all 24-hours? That sounds… insane.
A: It is. And no. Gamers are welcome to stay for the entire event, or just drop in to play for a few hours. You can even come Saturday and then come back Sunday morning for donuts and gaming – we’ll give you a wristband so you won’t have to pay the $5 cover charge again
Q: Do I need cash?
A: Please. Pretty please?! You can use credit cards for beer from Four String and food from the food trucks, but if you can PLEASE bring cash for admission and raffle tickets. Admission is $5 and raffle tickets will be 1 for $5, 3 for $10, or 8 for $20. If you absolutely cannot bring cash for some reason, we will collect your card donation via the Extra Life website at the event.
Q: What kinds of games will you have?
A: A lot. Here are some: Secret Hitler, Tesla vs Edison, Exploding Kittens, Fury of Dracula, Arkham Horror, Cosmic Encounter, Codenames, Netrunner, Archipelago, Oregon trail, Wasabi, Betrayal at House with Widow’s Walk expansion, Tsuro, Gloom, Sushi Go Party, World’s Faire 1893, Ticket to Ride, Scategories, Rummikub, Viticulture, Kill Shakespeare, Swinging Jivecat Voodoo Lounge, Castles of Burgundy, Machi Koro, etc etc etc. Don’t know any of those games? That’s cool, just come ready to learn and our friendly folks will teach ya!
Q: Can I bring my own game(s)?
A: Of course! Just be sure to write your name inside the lid or put a post-it note on the game so it ends up in the right place at the end of the event
