The Beers and Board Games Club of Columbus hosted our fifth annual 24-Hour Board Game Marathon beginning at 11am on Saturday, November 2 at Olentangy River Brewing Company.
The event is part of Extra Life, a global 24-hour gaming marathon fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, Extra Life has raised more than $50 million to help children’s hospitals; locally, the Beers and Board Games Club has donated over $30,000 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with the goal of raising an additional $10,000 this year. [UPDATE: We are at over $9,000! Donate here!]
The 24-Hour Board Game Marathon featured hundreds of tabletop board games — from classics to this year’s hottest new releases. Gamers are welcome to drop in to play for a few hours, or stay for the entire 24-hour event! We had about 250 people join us for this year’s event. Additional donations in support of the club’s fundraising campaign can be made online at extra-life.org/team/bbg
The Beers & Board Games Club was founded in 2013 by popular booze news blog Drink Up Columbus. The group currently has over 1,500 members and hosts 5-6 meetups every month at Columbus craft breweries.
